Plan Bv7

IWLC Board Endorses Plan Bv7

At the regular meeting of the International Water Levels Coalition held in Clayton on February 18, 2012, the Board voted to endorse Water Regulation Plan Bv7, recently proposed by the International Joint Commission.

This plan is not perfect, nor is it carved in stone. However we believe that it is a solid step forward in the right direction toward a more balanced, natural plan for water level regulation. There is an open comment period until June 15 and there will be a number of informative meetings as well as public hearings held throughout the Ontario-St. Lawrence River Basin during the Spring and the Summer. The IWLC will take every opportunity to continue to analyze, study and comment on Plan Bv7.  Click here to view the schedule.

It should be noted that the IWLC was founded in 1998 as a liaison between the International Joint Commission, the International Lake Ontario St. Lawrence River Board of Control, the municipalities and the general public who depend on the Lake and River for household use, work, commerce, tourism, recreation and enjoyment.

The IWLC Board would like to take this opportunity to applaud the IJC and renew its commitment to work with the IJC to make this plan the best it can be for the benefit of all stakeholders.
